Thank you Selina Boyce, for our invitation to come and see the demo by Russell Higgings. It was a lovely sunny warm day, with a good turnout, over 100 people, all proceeds going to the M.S Society and the M.D.I.R.F.
Russell Higgings, 4 star senior Parelli Instructor from New Zealand. Based on respect for the love of horses and understanding horse nature and psychology-Parelli enables anyone at any level to have fun with their horse and achieve amazing results.
Further advanced techniques were then shown by other riders, Anthony and Wiz a gorgeous grey highland horse, showing us how Wiz can bridle himself. How Jamie could get on his horse Puff, without the girth done up on the saddle, what balance, then some bridle less riding, there’s a fabulous bond between those two.
After all the viewing it makes you feel relaxed too. Thank you also for the lovely array of sandwiches and fruit for after.
I was grateful in having the use of my Tri-ride (an import from Italy) designed by a disabled man.my husband purchased mine from EPC wheelchairs based in Farnborough (Hampshire).I am delighted with this attachment, I keep my independence with it as I can put it on and off myself, the thing that sold it to me on the day of the demo!! I can reverse in it; it has 5 speed settings, cruise control and a sports mode which I’ve yet to experience. It can do 30miles on one charge and has a quick charging time of 3-4hours and you can go pretty fast should you need too!

We’ve teamed up with some famous equestrian faces to ask you to join in with the #mdirfsummeroflove campaign to raise money for the valuable work we do.
We’re encouraging equestrians to help us raise funds over the summer months so we can help riders just like you have been unfortunately injured riding or around horses. Together we can make a difference.
#nationalequestriansafetyday on March 25th 2017 is a safety awareness day aimed at the equestrian community. Created by our charity, which is dedicated to helping those injured through riding, handling or working with horses, the day aims to highlight the importance of thinking, acting and being safe around horses as equestrians become more active as the season progresses.
The significance of the day chosen is as clocks go forward, more riders return to the saddle and the competition season starts. It is also significant to the charity as Mothering Sunday is also within the month, a date close to the charities heart. The mother of the rider after whom the charity is named and who lost his life in a riding accident was instrumental in setting up the charity in his name and memory to help other riders and their families. For a classical music evening with a distinct equestrian flavour, the MDIRF Classically Equestrian Evening on 20th March at Bush Hall, 310 Uxbridge Rd, London W12 7LJ will not only bring the equestrian world together but also unite them for a worthy cause.
Taking to the stage will be Director of Hickstead & classical vocalist Daisy Bunn who will be joined by special guest singers from the equestrian world to help raise money for the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund and also the Ella Popely Memorial Fund.
The MDIRF is a charity dedicated to supporting equestrians and their families in their time of need and the tragic death of young show-jumper Ella Popely last year prompted the charity to share the monies raised from this special one off event to the fund set up in her memory.
