Amy completes the Silverstone Half Marathon
The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund would like to congratulate Amy Foy for completing the Silverstone Half Marathon on 2 March 2014 to raise funds for the MDIRF.
Not only did Amy beat her target time for the race, but she raised a massive £1,589 for the MDIRF in the process thanks to donations, sponsorship and a cake sale which included a spectacular MDIRF cake.
Amy contacted us after the half marathon to let us know how well she did:
“On March 2nd I made my way to Silverstone race circuit as the day for my half marathon challenge had arrived. Despite all the winter training and having achieved the full distance in my training sessions the race day seemed to come round very quickly.
On the day of the race the weather was just as it had been during my training wet, windy and cold, the main difference was the accompanying 6,777 other runners and a crowd which included my family to watch and cheer your progress. I had a secret personal goal of wanting to run the distance in under 2 hours. My official time to complete the 13.1 mile course was 1 hour 56 minutes and 32 seconds.
The total amount raised was £1,589 with very generous donations from friends, family and Carey Group PLC. I also held a homemade cake sale at my work with £1 donated for every cake eaten. This included a MDIRF cake I had made.
I am very happy to have completed the half marathon challenge and raised as much as I could for such a great cause. I look forward to doing more in the future to help and maybe even running a further distance.”
Thanks to Amy’s fundraising, we can continue to support riders and horse lovers who are injured by horses. Support like Amy’s is invaluable and we would like to say a big thank you to her for all of her fundraising efforts.
